In these challenging times, I often feel that my clients are sent to me for a reason. One such client is Diane, who lives about 40 minutes away from me. Together, we've navigated the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has left many feeling lost and overwhelmed. In a world where stress and anger seem to be at an all-time high, Diane sought something we all desire: a bedroom that brings joy and relaxation.
A Space for Peace
Diane envisioned a sanctuary— a place where she could escape the noise of the world and find solace at the end of the day. A bedroom should be the best room in the house, a refuge where we can lay down our worries and embrace tranquility. It’s an honor to be part of creating this space for her, and I’m grateful that our journey has blossomed into a meaningful friendship.
Diane is a remarkable woman—strong, fiery, and resilient, yet she embodies a sense of peace that is truly inspiring. Our collaboration on her master bedroom symbolizes so much more than just design; it’s a reminder to always push forward, to embrace the better days ahead, and to grant ourselves the grace to take a day to rest when needed. After all, life is too short not to cultivate peace within our minds and hearts.

The Design Journey
We opted for blackout curtains that allow soft light to filter in during the day, creating a soothing atmosphere. Diane’s bedroom is light, coastal, and incredibly relaxing—exactly what she envisioned. We also tackled a sideboard that turned out beautifully, and I can’t help but share my excitement about a new teal combo paint color that came about by happy accident. I love when those moments happen in the creative process!
Though we still have more pieces to complete—thanks to the chaos brought on by the pandemic—I believe we’ve made significant strides. Diane gave me full creative freedom to bring her vision to life, and I’m thrilled with how it’s all turning out. Most importantly, she loves it, and that’s what matters most to me.
A Reflection on Life and Design
As I reflect on this project, I’m reminded that design goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about creating a space that resonates with the soul. Diane’s bedroom is not just a room; it’s a testament to resilience and a reminder to cherish ourselves and our happiness.
Below, you’ll find some photos Diane took of her new room. I hope they inspire you to consider how your own spaces can be transformed into sanctuaries of peace.
In a world filled with uncertainty, let’s prioritize creating spaces that nurture our well-being. Remember to love yourself and pursue what brings you joy. Stay safe and healthy, and may you find peace in your own home.
Until next time!
J
